Hi Everyone,
It was a busy week at The Hub. We had a lot of exciting events and thank you to everyone for coming down and being part of our community. Our Black Pepper Fashion Parade was a success and we hope everyone had lots of fun!
Our Footy Team also won the match against South West last weekend at the curtain raiser in Optus Stadium! Congratulations Team
Some important updates:
Please note we are closed on Thursday, April 25 for ANZAC Day.
Unfortunately Community Lunch is cancelled for next week as well. We hope to have it return the next week, however we will keep you updated.
There has also been a number of changes to event dates: Member Measurement Day will now take place on 10 May and the information session on Voluntary Assisted Dying will take place on 14 June.
Member Measurement Day
Our next measurement day is coming soon and you can now book appointments with either Kritika or Vicki on our website. Measurement Day is on the 10th of May starting at 12 pm. By participating, you will be able to see for yourself how the Village Hub actually impacts on your wellbeing. We have created a range of measures, in collaboration with UWA and WA Centre for Health and Ageing, to track the impact of the Village Hub programme on your physical, cognitive and emotional wellbeing as well as overall quality of life.

Wine Appreciation Evening
Try something different at The Hub next month - you will now have the oppurtunity to do some wine tasting with Gerry Prewitt, our neighbour and wine expert. On May 19, Gerry will visit the Hub to share his passion for wines, and the subtleties and nuances of each unique wine. This evening is all about tasting wines that are interesting and exciting, from local grapevines as well as other parts of Australia.
Join with your fellow members and friends to share an amazing evening over a glass of wine while expanding your wine knowledge.

Older Adults Outdoor Adventure Guided Walks
With the beautiful weather we've got coming up in Perth, it's time to head outdoors! Older Adults Outdoor Activities (OAOA) starts next month and we've got some wonderful guided walks ready. Older Adults Outdoor Adventure is a peer coordinated programme which includes 10 weeks of guided nature appreciation walks every three weeks.
First up is Herdsman Lake on Thursday, May 2 starting 9.30 am. There will also be a catchup over coffee after each walk. If you need lifts to and from the destinations, this can be arranged as well.
OAOA is free for tenants and only $30 for members for the entire course. The walks are suitable for people with walking aids. This is a great way of getting out and exploring the wonderful nature that our surrounds offer.

Be Confident - Legal Health Check
On our next Be Confident Session, Elder Rights WA will be coming to the Hub for a workshop on a Legal Health Check. Elder Rights WA is a specialist legal advice and assistance service located within the Civil Law Division at Legal Aid WA and provide legal assistance to older people experiencing any form of elder abuse, and safeguards and advocates for the rights of older people in Western Australia. With their expertise in the field this is sure to be an informative session that will help you explore what sort of assitance you might require.
What is a Legal Health Check?
A Legal Health Check provides a review of your circumstances based on the information that you provide to assist in identifying areas that may need attention. It can help you identify potential risks before they become an issue.
