What's On At The Hub 28/03/2024




Hi Everyone,


We hope everyone has a wonderful Easter. We will be closed on Friday and Monday and back on Tuesday. We can't wait to see you back!


Please note that there will be no Line Dancing on Tuesday, April 2.


We will also be having a changes to our Active For Life classes over the next two weeks. Since Hannes is away, Rebecca will be taking over a few of his classes.


There will be no Active For Life classes next week from 2 April - 5 April.


Rebecca will be leading the classes on: Tuesday 9 April, Thursday 11 April, Wednesday 17 April.

 

Out N About - Peel Manor Bus Trip


We have an amazing new Bus Trip coming up! On Monday 27 May we will be exploring the south and visiting the beautiful Peel Manor Estate for a two course roast lunch and dessert.


Departing from the Village Hub you will first travel to Wells Park, site of the Kwinana Wreck for a picnic morning tea. Then the journey continues with a scenic drive along the coast where you stop to visit the historic site of the Catalpa Memorial and receive excellent commentary about the Catalpa and the biggest escape of prisoners from Fremantle Prison Continuing along the coast you visit Point Peron and the new lookout with magnificent views over the Shoalwater Bay islands before continuing along the coast and through Shoalwater and Safety Bay. 



After that you will make way to the special Peel Manor House. A Georgian mansion nestled on 10.5 acres of manicured gardens and tucked away between giant trees and lush greenery, alongside the shimmering shores of a tranquil lake, is the perfect place to enjoy lunch with the group. After your meal the final stop will be Peel Estate Wines for some wine tasting

Footy Fitness - Optus Stadium and Term 2


Our Walking Footy Team will be visiting Optus Stadium on Sunday 14 April for a game of walking footy against against the combined walking footy team from the South West.   

The match will take place as a curtain raiser ahead of the Eagles v Richmond game. We hope you can come along to support them!


Footy Fitness Term 2 also commences on Thursday 18 April. Footy Fitness for Men 55+ is a joint program with the West Coast Eagles that is all about improving your fitness, balance and strength through footy skills and gameplay, as well as have fun and make friends. Footy experience is not required and we encourage new people to join!


 Training takes place every Thursday morning from 7.30am at Mineral Resources Park.

Noongar Language Classes - Djiran Starting April




New cycle of Noongar Language Classes with Wadjak Balladong Noongar men Dylan Collard and Jayden Boundry starts next month from the 10th of April - 8th of May. This course runs for 5 weeks and celebrates Djiran, the Noongar season during April and May.




Djiran starts from the 10th of April. Classes will run every Wednesday 5.30pm (beginners) and 7.00 pm (intermediate) and is a 5 week cycle. 


Village Hub members get a great discount on this course as well, so give it a shot!

WAAPA Concert Visit


Each year, WAAPA students, staff and special guest artists participate in an amazing selection of performances. WAAPA has a diverse array of concerts and performances for the coming months. The Warana Music Award (Classical) is prize is awarded to the best concerto performer in a WAAPA classical music program as judged at the annual Warana Music Award competition.


Join Anita for a FREE concert with to watch the Warana Prize Concert 1. You will meet at Village Hub at 10am and travel by 960 bus to WAAPA.  You can either buy lunch from the Grindhouse Cafe, or take a picnic lunch to eat there.  The doors open at 1pm and concert starts at 1.10pm.
