Hello everyone,
We hope everyone has had a great week.
WA Mental Health Week
October 4 - October 10
Next week is important in raising awareness about the importance of mental health. Looking after our mental well-being helps us cope with stress, build strong connections, and live happier, healthier lives. This year's theme is Empowering Communities, Thriving Workforces It highlights the power to take charge of your mental health, find purpose through meaningful work, and support others in your community. It's about lived experience, recovery, and life beyond mental health challenges, emphasising the link between mental health and strong communities.
Join us Friday, 10 October for a special Connect 60+ workshop with Ulrika Klinteberg who is a lived experience speaker from Beyond Blue. She will be talking about having open conversations around mental health, the importance of listening, and looking after your wellbeing.
We will also be holding a free sausage sizzle/BBQ at 11am at the Hub - it's open to everyone, so bring your friends and family along. If you would like to volunteer for the BBQ, please email Vicki at village@connectvictoriapark.org
Come Say Hi at Read Park!
We will be hosting a stall at Read Park on Saturday, 4 October from 10am – 2pm as part of the Town of Victoria Park’s Mental Health Week community event. There will also be other great stalls, local organisations, activities and food trucks.

Golden Lens Photography Competition Now Open
Golden Lens Seniors Photography Competition is now open, and we’d love to see you participate! Organised by WA Seniors Card, The Golden Lens aims to celebrate the lives, stories, and creativity of older Western Australians through photography.

We’d love to encourage our members to take part in this year’s Golden Lens Seniors Photography Competition. It’s a chance to celebrate your creativity, capture meaningful moments, and share the stories and perspectives of older Western Australians. It could also be a fun way of getting a group together to stroll and see what interesting things you can take photos of!
The competition is now open, with prizes on offer across several categories. Entries are simple — just upload your photo with a short description via the Seniors Card website.
