Be Confident - Stroke Foundation - Act FAST

How do you know if someone is having a stroke? Think… F.A.S.T.

In this Be Confident session, Stroke Foundation will talk about the importance of early intervention, and the knowledge and skills needed to recognise the signs of a stroke to respond quickly.

Stroke Foundation is a national charity that partners with the community to prevent stroke, save lives, and enhance recovery. Get your questions answered and gain valuable information and resources to share with family and friends.

Chardonnay and Shiraz Appreciation Evening

Explore the world of Australian Chardonnays and Shirazes with wine connoisseur and Village Hub neighbour Gerry Prewett, and discover the rich varieties within them.

In an evening of wine appreciation, prepare to tantalise your taste buds, as you learn what makes an excellent wine. Sample some new wines that you may not have tried, discover your personal preferences, and find out what to look for when purchasing a bottle.

Tickets are only $12 for Village Hub Members and there are limited spots, so get in quick!

Film Screening - The Grey Line

This is the story of Helen’s struggle to find her place in the world.

Taken from her parents during a time when Aboriginal children were removed from their families through Government-mandated policy, Helen was raised by a middle-class family in the suburbs of Perth and believed she was their biological daughter until the age of 14.

This is her story of hurt, a longing to find her true self and to finally be accepted for who she is.

As part of the Town of Victoria Park's Kaatijiin Screenings, Connect Victoria Park will be hosting a film screening for "The Grey Line" on October 12, 5.30 pm. The Noongar word for knowledge, 'Kaatijiin' aims to give attendees an intimate and thought-provoking look into two very different tales of the Country and the people in it.

"Mammung" will also be screened on 13th September in the Vic Park Community Centre as part of Kaatjin. You can find tickets on the following link:

Both films are locally made and have deep roots in truth-telling – both of this country in ancient times, and since colonisation.  To book "The Grey Line" please click below":

Next week's Community Lunch on Tuesday, September 10 will be Tomato Soup followed by Grilled Fish with Chips and Salad.

Please book by Monday, September 9 on the following link:
