What's On At The Hub 28/07/25



Hello everyone, hope you 've had a nice week and are staying warm now that winter is in full swing.

This week we have an extra-special community lunch on Tuesday July 29th. Antlers optional! You will be greeted on arrival with a champagne cocktail, followed by a prawn cocktail for entree. Main course will be rolled Turkey Roast, Ham and Roasted Vegetables and for dessert Tiramisu. A cash bar will also be available.


Nordic Pole Walking

Starts Tuesday 29 July, 9am


Our Nordic Pole Walking group kicks off this Tuesday, 29 July, and will run every Tuesday at 9:00am.


This is a member-led group, led by our wonderful members who recently completed a technique session with Hannes to get everyone started on the right foot. A very limited number of poles are available at the Hub. If you have your own, please bring them along as they will be distributed on a first in basis, and priority will be to new people who have not been before.


This is a free activity and open to all members—no payments required. Just come along and enjoy walking together! You can register below:

Connect 60+ Starts Next Week!

We’re excited to announce that the next round of Connect 60+ workshops will begin on Friday, 1st August at 9:30am, held weekly at the Hub.

Each Friday, we’ll explore the International Council on Active Ageing’s Seven Dimensions of Wellness: physical, emotional, social, spiritual, vocational, intellectual, and environmental. These sessions are designed to help you stay active, independent, resilient, and connected in a rapidly changing world.

This cycle, we’re thrilled to present workshops inspired by ideas shared by our own members.

We’re kicking off with Elizabeth Pappas, award-winning author and long-time Village Hub member, who will lead a workshop on Writing Your Story. Elizabeth will share her journey as a writer, how to get started with autobiographical writing, and why telling your story is both intellectually stimulating and a powerful way to leave a legacy for your loved ones.

Tapestry Cultural Celebration @UWA

Thursday 21 August, 5pm

Tapestry is a special charity event to raise awareness about dementia and support the well-being of culturally diverse seniors through the power of culture, music, and storytelling.

There will be a vibrant line-up of live music, dance, and culturally rich performances including the Italian Choir, Flamenco, Indian Music and Dance, and Traditional Chinese Music and Dance. There will also be prizes, games and food.


Want to go with your friends at the Hub? We’d love to gather a group to attend together. If you’re keen to go along, let us know – tickets are only $8.50 each if we get a group of ten, and it'll be a fun way to get out and about. Curious About Ballroom Dancing?

If you’ve ever wanted to give ballroom dancing a go, now’s your chance! As part of a special offer from DanceSport Australia, you can try four classes for free  - and the Village Hub is one of the many participating studios around Perth.


You can join in on our Ballroom Fit every Monday at 1:00 PM, right here at the Hub with the voucher. The Come and Try period runs from 7 July to 28 September 2025.

You will need to register to get your 4 free classes. Registrations open on 7 of July and close on 21 August 2025. You can sign up at: freeclasses.dancesport.org.au.
