What's On At The Hub 1/11/2024

Hello Everyone,

We hope everyone has a great weekend. As we look forward to Seniors Week we'd love you to join us at The Hub for all the great things we've got on for the last two months of 2024!

Melbourne Cup Lunch - Volunteers Needed

We have our Melbourne Cup lunch on Tuesday, November 5th, and we need your help! We need volunteers to assist with set up, pack up, serving food, and the sweepstakes.

Please give us a call on 9361 2904 or send us an email if you would like to volunteer.

Sound Meditation with Kerry

Our Connect 60+ programme next week takes on spiritual wellness - starting with a great TED talk on the benefits of mindfulness followed by Kerry Paul facilitating a deeply relaxing experience for you to experience mindfulness through your breath. Your mind and body are nourished by sound waves from traditional Tibetan Bowls that unwind tension, dissipate active minds and brings a sense of calm and centre to emotions. Learn how breathing and mindfulness can be used daily to bring you into the present moment and the benefits of breathing into the body with intention and technique.

When we engage in spiritual practices like prayer, meditation, mindful yoga or simply taking a break, we open ourselves up to new insights and perspectives about life.

Session is on Friday November 8th, at 9.00am. You can book below:

Sparkling Appreciation Evening

After the success of our two previous wine-tasting events, we’re excited to welcome back Gerry for another unforgettable evening at the Hub! This time, he’ll be diving into the effervescent world of sparkling wines.

Join us on Monday, 4 December at 6.30pm. Gerry will guide you through the fascinating diversity of these bubbly beverages, sharing insights into their unique characteristics and production methods. Whether you’re a seasoned connoisseur or new to the world of sparkling wines, this event is the perfect opportunity to expand your palate and discover new favorites just in time for the festive season.

Be Connected - Photo Editors

Next week Vicki will be doing a Be Connected Session on how to edit photos on your phone. Join us on Wednesday 11.15 am to learn about all the tips and tricks to make your photos look amazing. Photo editing can be a great hack to brush up photos that might look not as good as you want them to be. In addition, it's simple and easy once you know just what you need to do!

It can also be a really fun thing to do with all the filters and adjustments available on our smartphones these days.

Seniors Week High Tea

As we approach Seniors Week , 10 -17 November 2024, it's time to come together and celebrate! This year, we’re thrilled to invite you to a delightful High Tea celebration on November 14 at 2.00pm. Thanks to a Seniors Week grant from the Department of Communities, we are thrilled to offer this event completely free of charge!

We’ll also be unveiling a new short film created by 17-year-old Thomas Greenway, who completed his school community service program with us. The film features several Village Hub members and explores both the positive and negative aspects of ageing.

It's a fantastic opportunity for members to come together, share stories, and enjoy a delightful selection of pastries and fine teas.

Please RSVP promptly, as space is limited. We can’t wait to celebrate with you!

We also need volunteers for the high tea so please let us know if you would like to help. Tasks include setup, pack up and clean up.
