Hello Everyone,
We hope everyone has had a great week. This week one of our members pointed me to a website that's all about discussing, analaysing, dismantling and quashing ageism. There's a great section called "Yo, Is This Ageist?" where author and activist Ashton Applewhite answers questions about current events, media and culture and whether they are ageist. On the Olympics she writes , "Highlighting age arguably reinforces the damaging narrative that age alone makes the accomplishment exceptional. On the other hand, including age arguably inspires people not to see it as a barrier to fulfilling an aspiration."
I think it's something to think about and all about what we aim to do at the Hub - what you do here (and all you do in life) is not great because you're a certain age, but because, well, it's great at any age!
What do you think? Does mentioning age imply that someone is too young or too old to excel at something?
