Hi Everyone,
Today is International Womens Day. We celebrated and commemorated the local women who have inspired our community and recognise the many amazing things they have done. by attending the Swan International Women's Day Awards this morning along with our members Dian Ross, Jan Mason, Kay Clark, Anita Clayton and Libby Pappas who have done amazing work for Connect as well as the wider community. Jan and Kay were also nominated for the Swan Senior Woman of the Year Award.

This International Women's Day is about ensuring women and girls are given equal opportunity to build their capabilities and strengthen their capacity to learn, earn and lead. The theme for 2024 is Count Her In: Invest in Women. Accelerate Progress. While alot of progress has been made, women still face significant barriers to achieving equal participation in the economy. Without equal access to education, employment, financial services and literacy, gender equality still hasn't been achieived but we can make great strides towards this by empowering the women in our lives in whatever way we can. Happy International Women's Day to all the women in our lives, in the Village Hub and the the world!

Neighbour Day Movie Matinee
Neighbour Day is on Sunday 24 March. This is a day to remind us of the part all of us play in building connection and reducing loneliness by being a part of the community you live in. Having a sense of belonging in community can improve overall wellbeing, and Neighbour Day is a reminder of how the connections we make with the people around us can affect our lives for the better.

For Neighbour Day this year, we want to celebrate neighbourly connections in Victoria Park with a Movie Matinee. We are hosting a special Movie Matinee featuring the heartwarming film 'A Man Called Otto', starring Tom Hanks. This film beautifully illustrates the joy and importance of having caring neighbors who uplift and support one another through life's ups and downs.
The event is free and there will be popcorn, drinks, and snacks for all. Bring along your friends, family, and of course, your neighbours to the Village Hub for a wonderful afternoon.
Furthermore, if you would like to get involved, we would love volunteers to help us - whether you're lending a hand with setup, assisting with refreshments, or simply spreading the word, every contribution makes a difference in creating a vibrant and inclusive neighbourhood.

Many of you know Julian from our podiatry appointments and how amazing he is. He will be doing a special Be Confident session on foot health on Wednesday, March 27.
