Every year, Volunteer Week offers a special chance to recognise the incredible efforts of those who give their time and energy to support our community. This year, the celebration was even more exciting for us at Connect Village Hub. We are proud to announce that our team was honoured with the Town of Victoria Park Volunteer Sundowner Volunteer Local Group/Organisation Award. This achievement highlights the dedication and passion of all of our volunteers who make the Village Hub a welcoming and vibrant place for everyone.

Honouring Our Volunteers During Volunteer Week

Volunteer Week is a time to shine a light on the people who quietly and consistently contribute to the wellbeing of our community. At Connect Village Hub, volunteers are the heart of everything we do. From facilitating groups to supporting each other, their work creates a warm and inclusive environment.

We want to thank each of our volunteers personally for the impact they have made to the Village Hub community.

Winning the Town of Victoria Park Volunteer Sundowner Award

Receiving the Local Group/Organisation Award was a proud moment for everyone at the Village Hub. This award recognises groups that demonstrate outstanding commitment and positive influence in the community. Our volunteers’ hard work and enthusiasm stood out among many worthy nominees.

The award ceremony was held at in the Long Hall at the newly renovated Bailie Hill, where Mayor Karen Vernon and representatives from the Town of Victoria Park joined nominees and other volunteers from the Community to celebrate. It was a joyful evening filled with laughter, speeches, and a shared sense of achievement. Winning this award motivates us to continue building a strong, supportive community through the Village Hub.

How Our Volunteers Make a Difference

The success of Connect Village Hub depends on the diverse talents and dedication of our volunteers. Here are some examples of how their efforts shape our community:

• Welcoming new members: Volunteers greet visitors and help them feel at home, answering questions and guiding them through activities.

• Running workshops: From Majong to Nordic Pole Walking, volunteers share their skills and knowledge to support lifelong learning.

• Organising events: Volunteers plan and run community events like community lunch and Sundowners that bring people together and foster friendships.

• Providing support: Many volunteers offer one-on-one assistance to others in the VIllage Hub Community whether it be, transport, assistance around the home or simply companionship.
