The story of six Irish political prisoners in 1876 who were dramatically rescued from Fremantle Prison in what remains one of the boldest prison escapes in Australian history. The rescue took years of careful planning and involved secret messages, undercover operatives travelling from America, and a daring escape by sea aboard the Catalpa.
This production tells the story through Theatre 180’s unique “CinePlay” style which blends film and live performance to create an immersive experience. Expect sweeping scenes from the high seas to colonial Western Australia.
The play is a historical retelling that explores themes of political freedom, resilience and the risks people take for what they believe in. It’s a chance to enjoy a high-quality local production with your Village Hub community and experience a compelling piece of local history brought to life on stage.
